Witness for the Prosecution (December/January)
by Agatha Christie
Agatha Christie's Witness for the Prosecution begins with a young man accused of murdering an eccentric old widow. Who just so happens to have left her entire fortune to him. Things look bad for this goodhearted young man, especially when his much older wife from Germany chooses to testify on the behalf of the prosecution. What ensues is a courtroom drama with a mystery at its heart, as both lawyer and audience try to untangle what really happened on the night of October the fourteenth.
